MOO Client Programs

Client programs are installed on your own computer.  They allow you easy access into virtual communities like schMOOze University, the MOO we'll be using for live discussions.

If you are only going to visit schMOOze a couple of times, just use the web-based clients linked on the MOO instructions page. If you fall in love with MOOing, you might want to download and install a better client program on your own computer. Here are some recommendations:

I suggest one of the following two clients for Macs:

Savitar   http://www.heynow.com/Savitar/
MUDDweller   http://lonestar.texas.net/~hsoi//mud/#clients
For the latter, you have to scroll down until you find the link.  There are lots of other Mac clients at this site, too.

For WinPCs I recommend Pueblo: http://www.chaco.com/pueblo/

Once you have installed and executed the Pueblo client:

Upon opening the Pueblo window, click on "Edit your personal list", then click on the "Add" button, then fill in this information in the "World Information" window:

Name: schMOOze University  Host: schmooze.hunter.cuny.edu
Type: MOO Port: 8888
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Web page: http://schmooze.hunter.cuny.edu:8888
Description: English language learning environment
Login style: 'send the username, then the password'

Then click Okay and again Okay

Then just click on the schMOOze University name on the first Pueblo window.
